Abstract
Description
In this focus group, participants share challenges and opportunities in adapting support services during the COVID-19 pandemic for populations living with substance use disorders, as well as personal impacts such as losing in-person connections with loved ones. Participants share that undocumented essential workers, incarcerated persons, and African American communities were left out of the pandemic response plans. They also discuss their expectation of the federal government in terms of relaying a uniform, consistent, and factual information about the pandemic to the public. They confess they did not realize their blessings until after experiencing the pandemic.
