Abstract

Description

In this focus group, participants discuss challenges related to remote learning and internet access, changing work environments, and financial uncertainty brought about by job loss during the pandemic. Their sources of strength were their families, children, prior knowledge and training, and following CDC guidelines. The participants discussed inequities, including lack of access to health insurance and hospital care, particularly for the Hispanic community. They share concerns about barriers in access to COVID-19 vaccination, its impact and effectiveness, and equity in vaccine development. Participants discuss acts of kindness including helping to distribute food, information, and other resources, and share their perception that New Jersey should improve access to health care, invest more in vulnerable communities, and keep all communities informed.
