Children and Families


The Department of Children and Families was created under Chapter 47, Laws of 2006. All of the functions, powers, and duties of the Office of Children's Services were transferred to it from the Department of Human Services, including the Division of Youth and Family Services (DYFS), the Division of Child Health Behavioral Services and the Division of Prevention and Community Partnerships. DYFS is the state's child protection and welfare agency. The department employs over 7,000 persons and provides services to New Jersey's most vulnerable children and families. State of New Jersey.
