Governor Donald Thomas DiFrancesco became governor of New Jersey when Christine Todd Whitman resigned to become head of the EPA in the George W. Bush administration. Governor DiFrancesco had been president of the Senate.
Governor DiFrancesco was educated at Penn State University and Seton Hall Law School.
