The mission of the New Jersey Geological and Water Survey is to leverage scientific expertise in geology, hydrogeology, water supply, groundwater quality, water allocation and subsurface investigations to provide geologic and water resource information to the regulatory community, academia, industry and the public.
Formerly known as the New Jersey Geological Survey, the program was established in 1835 before becoming part of the Department of Conservation and Development in 1915, the predecessor agency to the Department of Environmental Protection.
