Bureau of Safe Drinking WaterIn accordance with Section 1420(c)(3) of the Federal Safe Drinking Water Act Amendments of 1996, States must submit a report to the Governor every three years on the efficacy of the State’s Capacity Development Strategy and progress made towards improving the technical, managerial and financial capacity of public water systems. Under the Act, the report is due two years after the State first adopts its Capacity Development Strategy (September 2000) and every three years thereafter. The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) submitted its initial Capacity Development report to the Governor on September 27, 2002. This report of September 2011 provides an evaluation of the efficacy of the State’s Capacity Development Strategy during the three-year period 2008 through 2010. The report must also be made available to the public, and is available at http://www.nj.gov/dep/watersupply/publications.htm#capdev
