Authorized by Chapter 113, Laws of 1906. Became Department of Motor Vehicles in 1926. Transferred to Law and Public Safety under the reorganization of 1948. It remained in L&PS until it was transferred to the Department of Transportation in 1995. In 2003, it was renamed the Motor Vehicle Commission and became in but not of the Dept. of Transportation.
