Description:

In this interview, Participant 20 shares about the challenge of being a single parent during the pandemic, balancing work with helping their children navigate remote learning. They describe the abrupt changes of COVID-19 and the perception that parents have had to take on roles as teachers' aides during the pandemic and use devices for virtual schooling. They share the challenges experienced during quarantine, including social isolation and navigating trauma, as well as experiencing the loss of family members. They stayed connected and bridged coalitions with parents across New Jersey, and remained involved in community and advocacy work through their organization. The participant shares concerns about systemic issues exacerbated by COVID-19, and continuing the work to address them by encouraging people to focus on community. |
