McGreevey. Governor James E. McGreevey (2002-2004)

James Edward "Jim" McGreevey (born August 6, 1957). He served as the 52nd Governor of New Jersey from January 15, 2002, until he resigned from office at 11:59 pm on November 15, 2004. His term was due to expire on January 17, 2006. On August 12, 2004, McGreevey announced his decision to resign and admitted to having had an extramarital affair with a man, Golan Cipel, an Israeli citizen whom he had met on a visit to the Middle East. Governor McGreevey had appointed Mr. Cipel as his special counsel on homeland security. Governor McGreevey was educated at Columbia, Georgetown and Harvard.
