Lee and his patriots captured 158 British soldiers, but did not capture the fort. The result, however, was to halt British expansion in the region. Lee was rewarded with a gold medal from the Second Continental Congress, the only non-general to receive such an award during the Revolutionary War. Originally installed in 1903 through the efforts of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Paulus Hook Monument is a 25-foot obelisk of unhewn granite commemorating the Battle of Paulus Hook.Original file name 95 Paulus Hook Park.jpg2912x4368Each photograph within this collection is protected by copyright and/or related rights.
