2025-09-022025-09-022025-06-08https://hdl.handle.net/10929/148679In response to the summer residence of Philadelphia gentry on LBI the Beach Haven Yacht Club, founded in 1882 by a group of captains. This yacht club played a key role in the development of Beach Haven as a summer resort for Philadelphia's wealthy. It soon began hosting what was to become the largest charter fleet on the East Coast, with well over 40 boats in service at its peak in the decades leading up to World War II. Dissatisfied with the direction of the Beach Haven Yacht Club, a spin off was formed the Little Egg Harbor Yacht Club in 1912.
