2024-07-222024-07-222015-05-07https://hdl.handle.net/10929/118358The library opened in 1875 and was considered by many to be a model of future library space -- an octagonal building in which from the center of the room, on a raised platform, Librarian Frederick Vinton wrote the card catalog by hand and kept a watchful vigil over the patrons. The Rotunda become The Chancellor Green Pub in 1973 when NJ changed the legal age for alcohol consumption from 21 to 18. The Pub was closed in 1984 when NJ raised the legal drinking age back to 21. The Rotunda serves as a common room where faculty and students can engage in quiet discussion or study.
