The groundbreaking is important to the community because the existing high school is severely overcrowded, and there are over 40 trailers in use. Over the last four years the State has received numerous requests to begin construction on the new high school, particularly because parents are concerned about both the safety of the students in the trailers and the disruptions the trailers have caused. The construction of the school will create more than 1,500 jobs over the life of the project, and the new school will have the capacity to serve 1,700 students.en-USGovernors - New JerseyGovernment and Politics - New JerseyPress ReleasesCorzine, Jon S., 1947-New Jersey -- Public schoolsJon Corzine New Phillipsburg High SchoolState Publication
