The Long Beach Island Causeway was built in the 1950's and is considered "The Gateway to Long Beach Island" The Dutchman Brauhaus was a popular restaurant and bar located on Barnegat Bay in the Ship Botton. This popular restaurant was founded in 1952 and closed after Labor Day weekend in 2016. The Lucy Evelyn was a three-masted schooner built in Harrington, Maine in 1917. After man-years at sea, she was sold in 1948 and would eventually end up as a centerpiece for a shopping mall on Long Beach Island where she was converted to a gift shop.
