Abstract
Description
Located in Upper New York Bay at the entrance to Kill van Kull . This lighthouse is located on the heaviest used channel for commercial traffic in New York Bay. It is the main channel between New York Harbor and Newark Bay.
Known as a "spark plug lighthouse" it was built in 1883 replacing the original tower which was built in 18. Next to the tower is the keepers quarters which was built in 1839 .
