Abstract
Description
Shortly after the American troops took up winter quarters near Morristown in January 1777, Washington began the herculean task of gathering wagons, grain, and other necessities for his coming spring campaign.
Most of these supplies were concentrated in the village at the Continental Store, and their protection became essential.
Washington needed to defend these supplies. Since Kinneys Hill." was the highest point near town, it was a good defense position.
