dc.description | Over the years it appears that the hotel was leased out, as the Smith family did with many of their business properties. As a result, the proprietors changed several times over the years. Through most of the 1800s, different families took turns at operating the establishment. It was common for the father or eldest son to be the bar keep, while the mother and daughters handled the cooking, cleaning and laundry Finally in 1963 the building was in the process of being converted to an old-age home when it was purchased by Percy Leach and preserved as the hotel. | |
