Abstract
Description
The Morris Canal was designed with lift locks, guard locks, aqueducts that were built over rivers, and inclined planes, enabling barges to pass through the waterways, which differed in elevation by as much as 700 feet.
Imagine what to must have been like to move those heavy canal boats (each weighting about 75 tons) up this high vertical rise
Overcoming such differences in elevation is what made this canal extraordinary
