dc.descriptionLaurel Hill is a 150 foot rock formation, in the Meadowlands, that was formed by volcanic action over 150 million years ago. The Dutch colonists would nickname this formation "Snake Hill" because at that time a large colony of Black Snakes inhabited Hill. This caused many of these colonists to keep their distance from the hill. Over the years, it has become a landmark for travelers on the New Jersey Turnpike's Eastern Spur.
