dc.description"Shadow Lawn" boathouse in background.
The photo, although undated, was postmarked 1918 and was taken from Nolan’s Point on Lake Hopatcong. Halsey Island is on the left, Prospect Point mainland is in the distant center along with the Shadow Lawn Boathouse (built in 1905, or also known as the Prospect Point boat house or now known as the Main Lake Market) which is behind the ice-cutting man. This is a pre-Brady Bridge photograph, which was not built until 1923. The ice-cutting gasoline field saw was featured and advertised in an Ice and Refrigeration magazine dated 1916, likely more specifically dating the photograph.Photographer, W.J. Harris. Contributed by Ken Kazimir.
