Abstract

Description

The Daniel Lawrence farmhouse on Dover Chester Road dates back to 1796. The house is listed on the National and New Jersey Registers of Historic Places. Before the American Revolution, water-powered industries were operating in Combs Hollow and in the Quaker community of Millbrook, also known as Mott Hollow. By the early 1800's, small industries along the Mill Brook were processing textiles and manufacturing hats, rope and barrels. At that time, this building was the Mott Hollows Oil Mill. It produced linseed oil from flax. This Mill was one of only two in Morris County in 1821. Today it is a private home. Gristmill Road in Randolph is on the National Register of Historic Places
