Molly Pitcher is said to have drawn water from a spring on Wemrock Road to quench the thirst of her husband, a gunner with the Continental Army. During the battle it is believed that he was wounded and could no longer man his cannon. Molly Pitcher took his place. For her bravery and duty to her country, General Washington made her an honorary officer in the Continental Army This monument was placed here by the Daughters of The American Revolution (DAR) to not only Molly Pitcher but all the Americans who contributed to America's victory in the War of Independence.
