Abstract
Description
This train station is the second depot to be located in Pompton Lakes. It is a one story stone building with a hipped, green tiled roof. It was a stop on the New York, Susquehanna, and Western line that passed through Pompton Lakes. Service ran from Jersey City to Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania and Middletown, New York. Train service ceased in 1966 and it was converted to a bus stop.
The station was converted for commercial use when commuter service ceased in 1966. It now serves as a bus stop for New Jersey Transit.
The New York, Susquehanna, and Western caboose shown in this picture was moved to Pompton Lakes in 1988 for the purpose of display only. It once ran on the line passing through Pompton Lakes.
