Description

Colonial Ford and his soldiers captured a bronze, six pounder field cannon from the British Army at the victory in Princeton, NJ. On January 11, 1777 during the Winter encampment, Col. Ford died from pneumonia in the mansion house. At that time thirty-five Delaware troops who were quartered at the mansion witnessed his death. He was given a military funeral with full honors in The Green in Morristown.
