The first schoolhouse in Walpack Center was an octagonal log building built around 1800 outside of the town center. In 1830, a frame building was constructed to replace the log building and the school location was moved into town. This building was later converted to the blacksmith shop, and the location of the school was moved across the street from the Methodist Church. The Walpack Center Schoolhouse that stands now was built in 1893 and is the third schoolhouse erected in the village. This building has a combination wood and coal stove to heat the room and two outhouses in the back of the school. The schoolhouse shares many stylistic similarities with the other buildings in town with its white clapboard siding, green trim, and a slate roof. A belfry is located on the front of the building where a bell used to ring periodically throughout the day. Adjacent to the schoolhouse are two garage buildings.
