Description
Unlike other New Jersey Beach Towns, the Bay Head Beaches are not owned by the town. They are owned by the Bay Head Improvement Association, a local homeowners organization.
This means that Bay Head�s roughly 75 beachfront homeowners pay for all of the beach maintenance. This includes pushing sand onto the beach, building fences, protecting the dunes, plantings, etc
As a result, for many years the Bay Head beaches were considered private and not open to the general public.
