dc.descriptionReverse of Photo: Mrs. John Whitton, age 65, formerly of Conshohoken, PA., and her husband retired Philadelphia Electric employee. Bought and moved into a new home which was located on Bay Ave., Hoal Gate. Before storm broke Mrs. Whitton and her husband left for the mainland. Returned after storm and could find nothing of a house or where it used to be. White house in background which was washed into the bay is the only house left of some odd 30 houses that lined Bay Ave. Looking north toward Beach Haven, road is covered with sand from 1 to 3 feet deep. Mrs. Whitton is at bus stop with the sweater and hand bag which she took with her when she went to the mainland. All other possessions were washed away including an #8,000 house.en_US
