The granite obelisk, similar to one at Bunker Hill, stands at the highest elevation in the state of New Jersey at 1803 feet above sea level - within High Point State Park. Its construction began in 1928, with the completed monument dedicated with great fanfare on June 21st, 1930. Its plaque reads: "This Monument was erected by Colonel and Mrs. Anthony R. Kuser to the glory and honor and eternal memory of New Jersey heroes by land and sea and air in all wars of our country." At the top of the 220-foot structure one can observe a breathtaking view of the Pocono Mountains toward the west, the Catskill Mountains to the north and the Wallkill River Valley in the southeast - encompassing the entire Tri-State area.
