Abstract
Description
St. Andrew's Church was dedicated by Bishop John J. O'Connor in 1923. The parish was established by Reverend Andrew M. Egan, pastor of Saint Mary Star of the Sea, Bayonne, New Jersey in 1914.
The First Church combines church and school, on the Southwest corner of West Fourth Street and Story Court.
Following extensive consultations with parish and archdiocesan leadership as well as input from parishioners, Cardinal Joseph W. Tobin, C.Ss.R., Archbishop of Newark, has determined that St. Andrew the Apostle Church, located at 10 West 4th Street in Bayonne, will no longer be used for worship or serve as a sacred space.
This historic church celebrated its last Mass on September 23, 2024
