Abstract

Description

In the first window (left) is St. Martin DePorres, a Peruvian Dominican of African ancestry. St. Joachim was the grandfather of Jesus. Center is the Spanish St. Teresa of Avila, a Carmelite mystic, writer, and religious reformer. On the right is the Chinese martyr Blessed Martin Wu (1817-1862), honoring Asian Americans. Martin was a catechist from a farming family that had been Catholic for generations. Local authorities imprisoned, tortured, and killed him and many other Christians in a widespread persecution.
