dc.descriptionThis oil on canvas was painted by Rembrandt Peale for Col. Tilgman in 1818. It was considered one of the finest depictions of Washington by those who knew him. This painting was donated to the park by Lloyd W. Smith in 1955. At that time Mr. Smith was president of the Washington Association of New Jersey. It is being exhibited in honor of the Washington's Association on their 150 anniversary as a partner with the park
