Abstract

Description

There are 13 Flags flying in this Plaza representing the 13 original states . This overlooks New York Harbor with the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island in the background. This is by far the closest place on the Liberty State Park grounds to see the Statue of Liberty without taking the ferry , it is a very peaceful area of the park with plenty of free parking, but in this very ground more than a 100 years ago the German government ,at war with the allies in world war 1 , staged a sabotage on a weapons depot at Black Tom Island and the explosion was felt more than 90 miles away in Philadelphia and it is because this explosion that the Lady's torch has been closed off to visitors.
