Description
La Vela di Colombo, or The Sail of Columbus, designed by Italian sculptor Gino Gianetti, was dedicated in Christopher Columbus Plaza in Liberty State Park in 1999. The two-story sail-shaped bronze monument, a gift from the Italian government and the City of Genoa, commemorates the 500th anniversary of the westward journey of Christopher Columbus to America in 1492.
