In 1943, with one man, a dream, and some good luck. Jack Heistein was a New York City native who moved to Randolph when he was nine years old. He always dreamed of having a place of his own where he could play and swim, and during World War II, he purchased land that later became the park that bears his name.. It took Jack Heistein 13 years to build his dream park. He went out and bought land-clearing tools the day he signed the papers for the parcel, and began more than a decade of turning a piece of swamp land into the Fun and Sun Swim Club. Later he added huge concrete cylinders which served as the base for a bridge over the lake. Today the lake is a great setting for fishing and picnicking in warm weather months and ice skating in the winter.
