dc.descriptionSaint Ignatius of Loyola, was a Spanish Catholic priest and theologian, who, with six companions, founded the religious order of the Society of Jesus. This shrine pays homage to him by displaying a copy of his Sword. It was in the village of Montserrat that a young Ignatius placed his sword and dagger on the altar of the Madonna. By doing this he surrendered his dream of being a valiant knight instead desiring only from that time to put on the armor of Christ.
