Abstract

Description

In 1990 there was a pizza restaurant named "Chi-Chi" located here that burned down. Local authorities suspected and accused the family that owned the restaurant of starting the fire. This story made all the local papers but was later proven untrue. A year after the fire this building was built for a new pizza restaurant. At that time the new owners were trying yo come up with a name for the restaurant. They decided ti take advantage of the accusations made about the fire and came up with the name "Joey Tomato's Pizza". Given all the accusations about the fire they got a lot of free publicity and the owners were happy with their choice. Today "Joey Tomatoe's" is a very successful restaurant serving pizza on the Point Pleasant Boardwalk
