dc.descriptionThis beautiful long east west set deco corridor connects all four buildings. The classic bronze colored capitals and crown moldings depict the Art Deco style of the Roaring Twenties. Please note the pink marble and a decorative terrazzo floor. The last structure built for the Medical Center Complex was the residence for graduate and student nurses at the Medical Center. Constructed in 1941, the seventeen-story Art Deco building housed the Center's School of Nursing. It was named for Jessie M. Murdoch, Director of Nurses and friend of Mayor Frank Hague. The structure contained a gymnasium, swimming pool, and auditorium. The last building built on campus in 1941 was a nurses residence named Murdoch Hall. With it's marble clad lobby, hardwood paneled office for Mayor Hague, and beautiful Art Deco movie theater, Murdoch Hall is one of the greatest buildings in Jersey City
