dc.description | The Lone Soldier is 1 of 3 statues which can be found at the New Jersey World War II Memorial. This bronze life-size figure is designed to represent any Soldier, Marine, Sailor or Airman. The Statue shows a warrior in uniform of questionable pedigree. A sidearm is from one service but the uniform parts are from another. The helmet is from the Marines but the rifle a carbine says Army. It was purposefully done this way so all the branches of the military in WWII could be represented. The helmeted figure moves forward to meet the enemy, his M-1 rifle at the ready. | |
