dc.descriptionThis window is based on the icon of Our Lady of Perpetual Help. This 15th century Byzantine style icon of Mary and Jesus was brought to Rome from the East and has been associated with numerous miracles. Two of the archangels show the child Jesus the instruments of the crucifixion, and he is taken aback with fright - his sandal even falls off of his tiny foot. Mary's steady, knowing gaze is meant to comfort us; she is present to us through our sufferings, just as she stood faithfully by her Son
