Description
The newest lighthouse in New Jersey is the Lefrak Lighthouse in Jersey City.
During the 1980's Sam LeFrak was a real estate developer who redeveloped the Newport area of the Jersey City waterfront.
The Lefrak Family has always been supportive of The American Lighthouse Foundation. This foundation is devoted to the preservation and restoration of historic lighthouses and the education of the public about their importance to American history.
There are two versions of why this lighthouse was built. The first is that it was built as a decoration for the Newport neighborhood. The second that is used as a navigational aid for yachts entering the nearby marina.
