Description
Bloodletting was the withdrawal of blood from a patient to prevent or cure illness and disease. It was practiced during the American Revolutionary War. The cutting instrument was placed into the patient's vein and the blood was drawn into the bowl. The marks inside this bowl is an indication of how much blood had been taken from the patient.
