Urban Colored Population Commission Reports (1938-1947)
In 1938 the legislature passed P.L. 1938, c.393 establishing a Temporary Commission on the Condition of the Urban Colored Population. In 1941 the legislature then passed P.L. 1941, c.192 removing the temporary designation. The Commission produced investigations and reports until 1947 when its functions were taken over by the Division of Civil Rights. It existed on paper only from 1947-1979.
