Governor Christie: For New Jersey, it is time to do the big things. The credit card's maxed out, and it's over. It's over. We now have to get to the business of climbing out of the hole. There's only one simple rule: do not raise taxes on the most overtaxed people in the United States of America already. That's the rule. Great things cannot be accomplished without sacrifice. It can be done, but tough choices need to be made.
Reporter: The Governor reached a deal with lawmakers. Governor Christie has reached a deal on pension reform with New Jersey lawmakers.
Governor Christie: These steps have all been building blocks to achieve an affordable New Jersey. Every day that goes by that we don't do the big things is a day we've given away. Step by step we are putting ourselves on a better, more sustainable path, and pushing ahead on the road to growth. That is the model for the way forward.
