Item New Jersey Aquatic Invasive Species Management Plan(Trenton, N.J. : New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, 2024) New Jersey Aquatic Invasive Species Working GroupRecognizing the immediate and lasting threats posed by non-native, invasive species, the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) recently initiated discussions to revisit invasive species actions to date and explore short-term actionable items that could be implemented from the 2009 New Jersey Strategic Management Plan for Invasive Species. From these discussions, it was recommended to pursue the development of an Aquatic Invasive Species Management Plan. With at least 81 aquatic invasive species already reported within New Jersey, compounded by a lack of funding and dedicated resources, this Aquatic Invasive Species Management Plan is a necessary step in limiting potential negative impacts to New Jersey’s water resources, natural communities, and species diversity.
