Bureau of Freshwater and Biological MonitoringThe purpose of the New Jersey Cyanobacterial Harmful Algal Bloom (HAB) Response Strategy (Response Strategy) is to provide a unified statewide approach to respond to cyanobacterial HABs in freshwater recreational waters and sources of drinking water, and to protect the public from risks associated with exposure to cyanobacteria and related toxins. Although the primary focus of the Response Strategy is the protection of human health, it provides some information and recommendations regarding exposure and prevention of potential impacts to domestic animals (pets), livestock, and wildlife, as well.
